比較形容詞 - 英語の文法でよくある間違い

Comparative adjectives are words used to compare two people or things. We use them to say that one person or thing shows a high degree of quality or is a better example than the other. 

Words like taller, smarter, and slower are examples of comparative adjectives.

比較形容詞とは、2人の人や物を比較するために使われる言葉です。一方の人や物が他方の人や物よりも高い品質を示したり、良い例であることを言うために使います。 taller, smarter, slowerなどが比較形容詞の例です。

Can you see what's wrong with this sentence?

この文章のどこが間違っているかわかりますか？

• My car is faster, better, and stronger.

When you're stating that something should be compared to something else, make sure you always clarify what that something else is, so use the COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVE, plus THAN, then the noun or pronoun you're comparing it to. Otherwise, people might not recognize what the comparison means.

何かと何かを比較すべきだと述べるときは、必ずその何かが何であるかを明確にする必要があります。そのためには、COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVE（比較のための形容詞）とTHANを使い、次に比較する名詞や代名詞を使います。そうしないと、人々はその比較が何を意味するのか認識できないかもしれません。

Now please tell me what's wrong with these sentences.

では、これらの文章のどこが間違っているのか教えてください。

• My house is more bigger than yours. 

• My house is more big than yours. 

In the sentence - "MY HOUSE IS MORE BIGGER THAN YOURS",  the word "MORE" is unnecessary since the adjective - BIG is already in a comparative form - BIGGER. 

MY HOUSE IS MORE BIGGER THAN YOURS」という文では、形容詞のBIGがすでに比較形のBIGGERになっているので、「MORE」という言葉は不要です。

In the sentence - MY HOUSE IS MORE BIG THAN YOURS, basically, most adjectives that have one syllable should have an 'er at the end when you're using them in comparative form. We normally use the word MORE with longer words, and once we do, there's no need to add 'er at the end of these adjectives. 

MY HOUSE IS MORE BIG THAN YOURSという文章ですが、基本的に1音節の形容詞は、比較の形で使うときには最後に'er'をつけるべきです。通常、長い単語にはMOREという単語を使いますが、一度使ってしまえば、これらの形容詞の最後に'er'をつける必要はありません。

So, the correct answer for both of these sentences is - MY HOUSE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS. 

ですから、この2つの文章の正解は、「MY HOUSE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS」です。
